Gorilla Tracking Tour

Going on a Gorilla Trekking is a lifetime experience. Sitting in the silence on the cold ground of Uganda forest and looking into the expressive eyes of these giants will surely be the most exciting and emotional wildlife encounter you’ll ever have. There are fewer than 900 mountain gorillas in existence, and gorilla trekking provides a rare opportunity to observe the everyday interactions of these gentle, mysterious primates.

We provide three packages to choose from. In case you would prefer differen program combination, please contact us and we can tailor your itinerary.

Offered packages:
Option One: Three days Gorilla Tracking Tour
Option two: Five days Wildlife and Gorilla Tracking Tour
Option three: Six days Chimpanzee Trekking, Wildlife and Gorilla tracking tour

Please note:
Gorilla Permits are extremely limited in number, so to ensure your place on the tour we recommend that you book between 6 months to a year in advance.
Please note that the Uganda Wildlife Authority has increased gorilla permits to $700 from July 2020.

Option One: Three days Gorilla Tracking Tour

BUDGET: $1092 (per person in group of four) – $1725 solo traveler (Bed&Breakfast)
MID-RANGE: $1380 (per person in group of four) – $2070 solo traveler (full board)
LUXURY: $1725 (per person in group of four) – $2932 solo traveler (full board)

DAY 1:
Your tour guide will pick you from your hotel in the morning. Then you will start your 9 hour drive journey to Bwindi Inpenetrable National Park. Along the way you will make two major stops – one at the equator and one for hot lunch. You will then proceed to Bwindi and check in at your lodge on arrival.

DAY 2:
Breakfast will be served early in the morning and then your tour guide will drive you to the briefing point where the tracking starts. You’re advised to carry packed lunch and enough of drinking water (at least 2 litres) on your gorilla tracking adventure. Also make sure you have comfortable outdoor clothes and shoes for tracking.

Lake Bunyonyi:
After tracking you will proceed to Lake Bunyonyi where you will do a boat tour after chacking in at your lodge. The name Bunyonyi means many little birds which is one of the attractions around this lake. Lake Bunyonyi is the deepest lake in Uganda and the second deepest in Africa, with 29 islands.
You will then return to your lodge on the shores of the lake where you will spend your last night of this tour.

DAY 3:
After breakfast by the lake in the moning as you take another glance at the beautiful nature of Uganda, you will embark on your journey back to Kampala/Entebbe. You will stop along the way for hot lunch and then get back on the road to Kampala/Entebbe.

Option two: Five days Wildlife and Gorilla Tracking Tour

This tour combines a safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park and Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Inpenetrable National Park.

BUDGET: $1575 (per person in group of four) – $2530 solo traveler (Bed&Breakfast)
MID-RANGE: $1771 (per person in group of four) – $3220 solo traveler (full board)
LUXURY: $2242 (per person in group of four) – $4945 solo traveler (full board)

DAY 1:
A well trained tour guide will pick you from your hotel in Kampala/Entebbe. You will then begin the 6-7 hour drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park with a spectacular portion of nature on the drive down the western Uganda. A break for lunch along the way being one of the stops, without missing the equator monument prior to the lunch break.
You will spend a night at a safari lodge near the park (entrance fee is for 24 hours, better to stay outside the park when you reach late in the evening).

DAY 2:
Breakfast will be served early in the morning to kick off the day of wildlife viewing. A game drive will then commence. The earlier the better. This park harbors the big 4 wild animals – elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes and much more other animal species like impalas, warthogs, cobs, hyenas etc.
After the lunch break you will continue the program with the boat tour on Kazinga channel. This is where most of the animals drink from and we also expect to see more of them like crocodiles or hippos. There are also a wide range of bird species that you will lay your eyes on during the boat tour.
After the boat tour you will head back to your lodge.

DAY 3:
Another game drive will be done on the way to Bwindi. This one will be mainly aimed at seeing tree climbing lions in Ishasha, another section of Queen Elizabeth National Park.
You will then proceed to Bwindi and check in at your lodge on arrival.

DAY 4:
An early morning breakfast will be served and then your tour guide will drive you to the briefing point which starts at 7:30 am. Afterwards the tracking of gorillas shall begin. This could take few hours or a whole day. That is why you are advised to carry packed lunch and at least 2 liters of drinking water.
After tracking you will meet your tour guide at the finishing point and drive back to the lodge or do a community tour if you still have time and you are up for it.

DAY 5:
This day marks the end of your five days tour. You will get on the road back to Kampala in the morning. The drive from Bwindi takes about 9 hours. You will take a lunch break along the way.

Option three: Six days Chimpanzee Trekking, Wildlife and Gorilla tracking tour

This tour combines famous Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale National Park in Fort Portal, safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park plus boat tour and Gorilla tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

BUDGET: $2093 (per person in group of four) – $3220 solo traveler (Bed&Breakfast)
MID-RANGE: $2645 (per person in group of four) – $4255 solo traveler (full board)
LUXURY: $3590 (per person in group of four) – $5502 solo traveler (full board)

DAY 1:
The drive from Kampala/Entebbe to Kibale National park takes about 5 hours. Your guide will pick you up and get on the road. You will have a lunch break for hot luch in Fort Portal and later proceed to your lodge. A nature walk can be done in the evening around the lodge or just spend the evening relaxing and having dinner.

DAY 2:
The most popular activity in Kibale National Park is Chimpanzee trekking. During the trekking you can see other primates as baboons and many more different types of monkeys.
This activity takes 2 to 3 hoursand best time to do it is in the morning time. The trekking will commence after breakfast. You will later have lunch after trekking and then your tour guide will drive you to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The drive from Kibale National Park to Queen Elizabeth National Park takes about 2 hours. On arrival you will check in and freshen up with the dinner and relax.

DAY 3:
Early morning is the best time to lay your eyes on wild animals lika buffaloes, elephants, lions, leopards, hyenas, waterbucks, or hippos. This day is for game drive safari in morning hours and boat tour in Kazinga channel in the afternoon as animals trink water from the channel. Crocodiles are often spotted sunbathing on the shores of the channel. There are also a wide range of bird species around Kazinga channel.

DAY 4:
Whiel driving out of Queen Elizabeth National Park heading to Bwindi, you will do another game drive through Ishasha sector, which is commonly know for the climbing lions. The drive and the activity takes five hours so you will start this drive after breakfast, your packed lunch will also be ready and handed to you.
After the game drive in Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park you will proceed to your lodge in Bwindi where you will check in on arrival and relax for the rest of the day or we can organize a village and community visit.

DAY 5:
Gorilla Tracking begins with a briefing at 7:30am. This means early breakfast and then your tour guide will pick you up from the lodge and drop you off at the griefing point. Be sure to carry your packed lunch and enough drinking water. Your tour guide will later meet you at the finishing point after gorilla trekking and drive you back to the lodge.

DAY 6:
The drive from Bwindi to Kampala is about 9 hours. You will break it with a lunch and stop at the Equator. You will then proceed to Entebbe/Kampala.
